In my experience performing energy audits and inspections in Prescott over the past twenty years, it’s fair to say over 90% of homes would be eligible for some rebates because leaky ductwork and missing insulation are the rule and not the exception. If Advantage Home Performance provides a quote to bring your insulation up to an R-38 and repair the air barrier for $2,245, you would be eligible for an APS rebate of $250 and UniSource rebates for insulation and air sealing totaling $800. In this instance, your utilities would be paying a total of $1,050 or 47% of the cost of your energy improvements. To collect these rebates you have to participate in the utilities audit.

If you decide to proceed forward with the energy improvements, we are required by the utility companies to perform a state-of-the-art energy audit which will cost you $99. The actual value of this audit is much closer to $700 given the amount of time invested into the process from testing and analysis. Our auditors bring about $10,000 worth of diagnostic equipment into your Prescott home to perform this audit. The audit and the accompanying oversight by the utilities third-party inspectors has been put in place to ensure that participating contractors perform a thorough diagnosis of your home and that there is no abuse of the program.
